Five Days Of Quirky Outback Fun!

Welcome to the 2023 Outback Festival in Winton!

We’ve got a jam packed lineup of events over five days! From the festival’s hilarious signature event, the Quilton Australian Dunny Derby to nightly live entertainment. Sports fans can test their skills with some gruelling sporting challenges including the Outback Century Cycle Challenge – the toughest, flattest cycling event in the Outback and Outback Iron Man, Woman and Junior events.

Tuesday 19th

Welcome to day one of the Outback Festival in Winton! Today kickstarts from 8AM and promises to be an action-packed day filled with epic outback events from our Outback Ironman and Woman, Little Swaggies Hat Toss plus Children’s Wobble Board Painting.

Join us for the Opening Festival Concert, the Johnny Cash Special.

Wednesday 20th

Welcome to day 2 of the Outback Festival in Winton!

For those looking to try their hand at some Outback Aussie Sports, join in today on the Swag Toss, Broom Throwing, Wool Bale Rolling and the True Blue Aussie Sports Competition.

Throughout the day, there will be more roaming entertainment to keep you entertained, and free live music on the Festival Main Stage from 5:30PM with Wade Forster, Matt Angell and Kirsty Lee Akers.

Thursday 21st

Start Day 3 with a belly full of laughs at the famous Bush Poets Breakfast, a chance to enjoy a hearty meal while listening to talented bush poets recite their work.

In Winton’s main street, see the competition heating up for our Outback Iron competitions for juniors, men, and women.

By night, join family night at the Royal Open Air Theatre or dance the night away at the Sunset Gala Charity Dinner.

Friday 22nd

Day 4 is the day you’ve been waiting for! The Dunny Racing action promises to be a thrilling spectacle with teams racing homemade ‘Thunderboxes’ from 4:30PM. Gates open 2:00PM.

Today, lace up for the Western River Adventure Run, or sit back and enjoy the entertainment at Dunny Derby and Live Music Concert with Ben Ransom and Dragon.

Saturday 23rd

Day 5 of the Outback Festival starts at first light with our Outback Century Cycle Challenge before the Outback Iron Finals, Whip Cracking Championships and Truck Pull competition. Go market to market in Winton’s Main Street, see the spectacle of the Grand Parade as it engulfs the town or check out the Shank Brothers BBQ Show.

Make your way to Winton’s Recreational Grounds for the Finale concert from 5:30PM with G Force, 1RAR Band and The Australian Eagles Show. Gates open 4:30PM.

Sunday 24th

It’s time to say farewell as we look back at another year of Outback Aussie fun. The final event of the Outback Festival Winton is the Truckies Reunion Breakfast, which provides a chance for attendees to come together and celebrate the trucking industry in the outback.

This is followed by working displays, offering a glimpse into the machinery and tools used in daily outback life.
