Meet Our Whip Cracking Championship Judge
The Wicks Family whipcrackers are from “Gunnedah NSW”, Steven & Narelle Wicks will be joining us at this year’s Winton Outback Festival to help celebrate our 150 years of Winton. The family of Whipcrackers have had the passion of Whipcracking for over 28 years, this passion has taken them cracking whips all over the country showing this truly traditionally art of whipcracking.
Over the past 28 years the Wicks Family have come from watching a Whipcracking busker on the street at the Tamworth Country Festival, to now days competing and demonstrating this truly Australian tradition of Whipcracking.
Steven’s greatest honour to date was to be chosen to be involved in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games Opening Ceremony along with 50 whipcrackers.
The family have been a feature performance at the 2000 Sydney Royal Easter show and have also been invited to perform at many major corporate functions throughout Australia to show case the art of whipcracking.
