Where is Winton?
Winton is situated on the Matilda Highway 1,500 km from Brisbane and 178km north-west of Longreach and 472km south-east of Mount Isa.

Is there mobile signal and WIFI in Winton?
You can access free WIFI, provided by the Winton Shire Council in Elderslie Street (Winton’s main street). The main town of Winton has Telstra 4GX reception only, and outlying areas have no mobile phone reception at all, except via satellite. You’re not in the suburbs anymore!
What’s the weather going to be like?
The weather in Winton during the festival should have approximate highs of 32ºC in the daytime and lows of 17ºC during the night. Check BOM closer to the event for a more accurate forecast. Best bet is to pack a great hat and plenty of sunscreen!

Where is the festival program?
You can access our preliminary online program on our website. The full program of events will be available closer to the event from the Festival Information Office and will be available for download from our website closer to the festival.
Are there free activities for the kids?
Absolutely! Kids are KING at Outback Festival. We’ve got a full program of active and creative events just for them. See what outback fun they can get up to here.
Can I bring my dog?
Your four-legged friend is welcome to watch all the action in Winton’s main street during the festival. Dogs are permitted at Eric Lenton Memorial Recreation Grounds and the Festival Campsite area provided they are kept on a leash. Dogs are not permitted in Club Paterson Tent City.
Can we bring alcohol into the festival?
Alcohol is not permitted to be brought into the main festival concert venue at Eric Lenton Recreation Grounds where a licensed bar will be operating. You are free to take alcohol into Club Paterson Tent City and Festival Campsites, provided it is not in glass. While in Winton, don’t forget to pull up a seat at one of our many loved watering holes.
Is There Parking Available During The Festival?
Street parking is available near the festival precincts. Winton’s main street, Elderslide Street is closed during the festival period.
Is there a shuttle bus service?
A complimentary shuttle bus service is available to take you to and from the festival event venues to festival campsites, and Club Paterson Tent City.
Ticketing
How do I get tickets?
All passes and tickets will be on sale early 2025.
All event tickets MUST BE booked online, subject to availability there may be limited tickets available at the gate/door.
All events that require registrations must be booked online. This includes Outback Century Cycle Challenge, Western River Run and Outback Strength Events.
Club Paterson Tent City and Festival Campsite packages are available to be booked online through the festival website.
Do I need to print out my ticket?
Tickets can be printed or shown on your mobile phone. All tickets will be scanned on entry.
Can I get a refund on my ticket?
There are NO REFUNDS on any event tickets except as required by law.

Do I need a festival wristband?
It is a condition of entry that the festival wristband be worn whilst at the Eric Lenton Recreation Grounds. This will be the main venue for Friday and Saturday music concerts and entertainment. Wristbands may be collected from the festival information office on Elderslie Street, upon presentation of your online ticket. This will ensure you have a speedy entry into the event.
Facilities
Is there disabled access?
Yes, all venues are wheelchair accessible.
Is There eftpos?
Yes, credit card and Eftpos facilities are available at the festival information office and merchandise stall.
Is there an ATM at the festival?
Yes. A separate contractor will provide an ATM at the Festival.
Is there food available at the festival?
Yes, there will be food vendors at the festival offering a mouthwatering selection of food and beverages for purchase. Food can be purchased from a selection of local cafes and restaurants.
Camping & Accommodation
How Can I Find Somewhere To Stay In Winton?
Winton accommodation is at a premium over the event and often is booked out well in advance. To ensure you all have a bed, we’ve organised a great night’s rest at our Club Paterson Tent City (beds all made up and ready) or for the self-contained visitors at Festival Campsites. Bookings for both these accommodation options are only available online from the festival website here.

Are there powered sites?
Yes, we have a limited number of powered sites at Festival Campsites. These are open for sale now until sold out.
Can we use a generator at the campsites?
Yes, but for the consideration of other campers, generators are not to be operating between the hours of 10pm – 8am.
Can i have a fire or bring a firepit?
Fires and firepits will not be permitted at either festival camping sites.
Are there showers at Club Paterson Tent City?
Yes, dedicated shower and toilet facilities will be provided for both Festival Campsites and Club Paterson Tent City.
Can I Park my car close to my tent at Club Paterson Tent City?
Yes, Festival Campsites will have sufficient car space beside their site. Guests staying at Club Paterson Tent City will be free to park in the car park adjacent to Tent City.
Is there drinking water available?
Yes, clean drinking water will be provided in all festival camping areas. Note, this is artesian water, and while perfectly safe to drink, it does carry a distinctive sulphur odour that takes a little getting used too.
