Meet the Poets

Marco Gliori speaking at Outback Festival 2019

Marco Gliori

Marco is one of Australias most popular contemporary poets and story-tellers, gathering humorous verse and anecdotes from his travels around Australia. A Darling Downs boy, Marco grew up playing Rugby League, became a Queensland Detective, decided to go straight, (so he jokes) and has gone on to become one of the most sought-after spoken presenters at Festivals around Australia. He brings communities together through his presentations, featuring the best Poets this country has to offer.

Muz Hartin

The son of a farmer and grazier, a mad Rugby Union halfback who has featured prominently on Australian Radio and television.  Both John Laws, and Alan Jones have sworn by Muz and his classic poems like Turbulence, ‘Buck you Bastard Buck!’ and his spine-tingling ‘Rain from Nowhere’ depicting depression in rural Australia.

Bill Kerns

Bill is a You-Tube sensation himself with his live performance of ‘Entrapment’ registering hundreds of thousands of views world wide.  His hilarious poems have struck a chord with audiences of all ages, featuring collapsible picnic chairs, chook raffles, and pensioners unwittingly arriving at a Swingers Club.   You can guess the rest.

A Poets Brawl

You can enter! The final breakfast on Saturday morning (23 September) will feature The Poets Brawl where Campers (thats you) have written a Poem that lasts no more than 60 seconds. Join in the fun for free with entries open upon arrival. Read or recite your poem based upon the topic of… Anything you want! Entrants will be judged on the audience applause. (Make em laugh!)  The funniest poet will take out the top prize of an Outback Festival Souvenir survival pack!

If you would like more information on the Poets Brawl, please email our coordinator.
