Celebrate The Spirit Of The Outback With Us!
Welcome to the Outback Festival in Winton, Australia! We can’t wait to share with you the spirit of the outback and celebrate the unique culture of our region.
The biennial Outback Festival is held each odd calendar year during the September School Holidays. This truly unique festival, held over five days is listed by the Australian Traveller Magazine as one of the top “100 Things to Do in Australia before you die” Known for its quirky events including the Signature event – Quilton Australian Dunny Derby, Outback Festival regularly attracts visitors from all over Australia.
The 28 th Biennial Outback Festival will be held from 23 rd to 27 th September 2025 in conjunction with the 150 Years of Winton Celebrations (1875-2025). The 2023 event held over 5 days attracted some 22,000 attendees. In 2025, we are expecting a further swell of visitors and ex-locals to attend and celebrate Winton’s 150 Years of Settlement.
This country town, home to less than 1,000 residents, literally explodes with excitement and people, increasing the local population by ten-fold during the five-day Festival including rare, active, and participatory events, such as the Quilton Australian Dunny Derby, Outback Ironman, Ironwoman, Iron Juniors, Century Cycle & the Western River Road Run.
Winton accommodation is fully booked during the Outback Festival, but plenty of camping options are available. Stay at the Showgrounds with powered or unpowered sites, have everything provided for you at the Club Paterson Tent City or go luxe in 2025 with the new Luxury Glamping Bell Tents.
Our Mission is to deliver an authentic Australian outback experience that actively encourages all ages to participate in the event. The Festival is welcoming, fun, and one of the world’s quirkiest events.
